Ballet of Giants

One of my greatest wishes as an underwater photographer has been to have an encounter with humpback whales. These graceful, magnificent leviathans of the ocean have captivated me for as long as I can remember. Over the years, I’ve had so many close calls—traveling to different parts of the world, only to be met with poor visibility, rough conditions, or just plain bad luck.

Then, in Moorea, it finally happened.

Drifting in the blue, I watched in awe as three humpback whales moved in perfect harmony, weaving through the rays of sunlight. It felt like they were putting on a show  —an intimate, unchoreographed ballet between giants. In that moment, time stood still. The years of searching, the missed chances… none of it mattered anymore.

What you see here is exactly how it felt—pure magic. Just the ocean, the light, and these incredible beings. My hope is that when you look at this image, you feel that same sense of awe and wonder. Like you’re right there with me, witnessing the dream come true.
